BBL IAM - Implicit Allocation Mechanism

Overview

The Implicit Allocation Mechanism (IAM) is a PRISMA feature that allows an associated broker to reserve and book transport capacity from the operator on your behalf, on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the capacity has been booked, the broker can offer it to the market together with the commodity, in a single combined product, instead of you having to arrange capacity and commodity separately.

To make this possible, you grant the broker access to your PRISMA account through an OAuth2 authorization flow. You stay in control of who is authorized and for how long, and the broker only acts within the scope of capacity bookings on your behalf.

How the Authorization Works

The authorization itself takes only a few clicks. The flow is initiated from the broker's side and then completed on PRISMA:

  1. Receive the authorization link.
Your broker house (or the operator) provides you with the link that starts the OAuth2 authorization flow.
  2. Open the link.
Clicking the link takes you to a PRISMA authorization page.

  1. Enter your PRISMA credentials.
On the next step, log in with your usual PRISMA account credentials and confirm the authorization.
  2. Return to the broker.
Once your credentials are confirmed, you are redirected back to the broker's page. From this point onwards, the broker is authenticated to place reservations and book transport capacity with the operator on your behalf.

For details about the implicit capacity booking process itself, what is offered, when, and on what terms, please contact your broker directly.

Key Facts

A few important points to keep in mind once IAM is set up for your account:

  • Authorization model
Access is granted via OAuth2 authorization, which lets the broker book capacity on your behalf without ever needing to know your password.
  • Token validity
An authorization token is valid for one calendar year. After it expires, simply repeat the authorization flow to issue a new token.
  • Revocation
If you want to withdraw a broker's access before the token expires, please contact Customer Success.
  • Notifications
You will receive a notification for every reservation made on your behalf, and a confirmation email each time a booking is completed.
  • How bookings appear
IAM bookings show up in your transactions as Direct FCFS bookings, because the underlying allocation mechanism is Direct FCFS.
  • Where to review access
You can see all active OAuth2 grants at any time under Settings → Booking Authorisation.

In Short

The Implicit Allocation Mechanism (IAM) lets an associated broker reserve and book transport capacity from the operator on your behalf, so that capacity and commodity can be offered to the market together. You authorize the broker through a short OAuth2 flow click the link your broker provides, log in to PRISMA, and confirm and the broker is then able to book capacity for you on a Direct FCFS basis for up to one calendar year. Bookings appear in your transactions as Direct FCFS bookings, you receive notifications and confirmations for each one, and you can review or revoke active grants at any time under Settings → Booking Authorisation (revocation requires contacting Customer Success).
