Account Management - What are Credit Limits?

Overview

To perform any kind of activities in the primary, secondary or storage markets on PRISMA, you must have a sufficient credit limit if the operator requires a credit check.

A credit limit is the maximum outstanding balance which a TSO or SSO assigns to a shipper.

The operator can assign multiple credit limits for different types of products (auctions, FCFS bookings, secondary trading).

Definition of Credit Limits

A credit limit contains:

  1. an identifier, which is the unique name given to the credit limit;

  2. a static amount, which designates your total credit limit. This is the monetary threshold assigned by the operator;

  3. a used amount, which indicates the sum of your concluded transactions with that operator;

  4. an interval, which establishes a validity period in regard to the product runtime;

  5. an application, which specifies to which types of products the credit limit applies;

  6. a credit framework (product applicability and multiplication factor for the transaction value).
    NOTE: The multiplication factor is not visible on your page.

Credit Limit Check

At the moment you attempt to conclude a transaction, your credit limit is checked against the information provided by the operator.

In the automatic credit check, the used amount is compared to the static amount to determine whether the transaction may be concluded:

  • If the static credit limit is higher, then the transaction is processed.

  • If the static credit limit is lower, then the transaction is blocked.

If the solvency is insufficient - that is, if the credit limit is exceeded - you will not be able to place the bid.

The unsuccessful transaction is signaled by a red error box that appears at the top right of the screen which says "Insufficient Solvency".

Note: when you get the "Insufficient solvency" error, please contact the operator directly and ask them to fix your credit limit.
